February 7, 2023

3 p.m. Update

This morning, February 7, 2023, we reported an incident involving a male and female student to our campus community. The male student was treated and released from the hospital earlier today. The female student remains in custody, pending charges.

The Cedarville Police Department is leading the ongoing investigation with the full support of the University’s Campus Security team. Anyone with information about the incident should email security@cedarville.edu

While the situation was resolved quickly and there is no ongoing threat, our priority remains to care well for our campus community and provide appropriate resources and support. Counseling Services is offering walk-in access to any student, and Residence Life team members are also available for conversations and prayer. Faculty and staff may reach out to University Human Resources for supportive services.

9:45 a.m. Update

This morning on campus, at approximately 8 a.m., a male student was stabbed by a female student in the lower level of the Stevens Student Center. Campus Security and the Cedarville Police responded promptly to assess and address the situation. The male student, who did not appear to have life-threatening injuries, has been transported to an area hospital, and the female student is in custody. The situation remains under investigation. There is no further threat to the campus community.
